Information We Collect

Depending on how You use Rememberry, We may collect the following categories of information.

Account and Authentication Information

  • email address,

  • sign-in method and authentication-related identifiers,

  • basic profile information provided by an identity provider, such as display name or avatar, when available, and

  • account status and subscription-related account metadata.

We collect this information when You create an account, sign in with Google, use email-based authentication, or use account-linked features.

User Content and App Data

This may include information that You create, store, import, sync, or manage through the Service, such as:

  • cards, decks, translations, study progress, and other learning data,

  • application settings and preferences,

  • backup or sync-related data, and

  • other content that You choose to save through the Service.

If You use the browser extension without an account, much of this data may remain stored locally on Your Device. Depending on the platform and configuration, Rememberry may use browser storage APIs, IndexedDB, local browser storage, or similar local storage technologies. When sync features are enabled, relevant data may also be stored on Our backend infrastructure.

Usage, Device, and Diagnostic Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service.

Usage Data may include information such as IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, app version, pages or screens visited, timestamps, session information, feature usage, referring URLs, unique device or browser identifiers, and other diagnostic or technical information.

When You access the Service through a mobile device, installed PWA, or Android TWA, We may also receive mobile device and browser information needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.

Subscription and Billing Information

If You purchase or manage a paid plan, Our billing providers may process payment information on Our behalf. We may receive and store subscription-related information such as subscription status, plan, billing period, pricing, currency, transaction identifiers, customer identifiers, and limited billing metadata. We do not store full payment card details on Rememberry servers.

How We Use Information

We may use Personal Data and other information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and operate the Service, including syncing data, saving settings, running study features, and maintaining account functionality.

  • To manage Your Account, including authentication, login state, subscription state, and account-linked features.

  • To process subscriptions and billing, including paid plan activation, subscription checks, upgrades, customer portal access, and billing support.

  • To maintain security and reliability, including fraud prevention, abuse detection, troubleshooting, backup handling, and service monitoring.

  • To analyze and improve the Service, including understanding feature usage, measuring performance, and improving product quality.

  • To communicate with You, including service notices, authentication messages, account-related notices, and support responses.

  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce Our terms, rights, and policies.

When We Share Information

We may share information in the following situations:

  • With Service Providers: We may share information with providers that help Us operate the Service, such as Google and Firebase for authentication, hosting, backend, database, and analytics services; Paddle for subscriptions and billing; and New Relic or similar providers for performance monitoring and error reporting.

  • With browser or platform operators: browser stores, app stores, and platform providers may process information under their own privacy policies when You install, update, or use their platforms.

  • For legal and safety reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or if We believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or investigate abuse or fraud.

  • Business changes: We may share or transfer information in connection with a merger, acquisition, asset sale, financing, or similar transaction.

  • With Your consent: We may disclose information for any other purpose with Your consent.

Data Retention

We retain Personal Data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Service, maintain account and subscription records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with legal obligations, and protect the Service.

Retention periods may vary depending on the data type. For example, local data stored on Your Device may remain until You remove it, clear local storage, uninstall the app or extension, or delete Your account. Account, sync, billing, diagnostic, and security-related records may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary or legally required.

Analytics and Error Reporting

We may use analytics and diagnostic tools to understand product usage, measure performance, and detect errors. These tools may differ across the extension, web app, PWA, and mobile wrapper distributions.

Depending on Your location and the product surface You use, We may request consent before enabling analytics or certain error reporting features. If analytics is disabled, We may still process limited operational or essential events that are needed to operate, secure, diagnose, or protect the Service.

Account Deletion

If You have an account, You may be able to delete it using the in-app Delete Account feature or by contacting Us. When an account deletion request is completed, We aim to delete the corresponding authentication profile and remove or de-link related synced user data associated with that account from active systems.

Some information may remain for a limited time in logs, backups, security systems, billing records, or other compliance-related records where retention is reasonably necessary or required by law. In some cases, account deletion may be temporarily unavailable until certain subscription or billing issues are resolved.

Deleting an account does not necessarily remove copies of data that remain only on other devices under Your control, in manually exported backups, or in third-party systems governed by their own retention practices.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than the country where You live. By using the Service, You understand that Your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions where data protection laws may differ from those in Your jurisdiction.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that such transfers are handled securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Disclosure for Legal Reasons

We may disclose Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • comply with a legal obligation,

  • protect and defend the rights or property of the Company,

  • prevent or investigate abuse, fraud, security incidents, or possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service,

  • protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public, or

  • protect against legal liability.

Security

The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While We strive to use commercially reasonable measures to protect information, We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When We do, We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. If required, We may also provide a more prominent notice through the Service.
