What's new in 0.6.0

This release brings the following updates.

Smart/manual repetition mode switch

From the very beginning, Rememberry used a smart repetition mode. Based on your recall-difficulty answer (Easy, Normal, or Hard) and certain other parameters, a special algorithm calculates the time interval that should pass before a flashcard needs to be repeated. You can learn more about the method on Wikipedia, or see how spaced repetition works in Rememberry today.

The motivation behind this method is to let you spend as little time repeating flashcards as possible while efficiently retaining what you have learned.

We still recommend smart repetition and keep it as the default, but we also heard your feedback and added an option to switch between smart and manual modes.

In smart mode, you cannot repeat flashcards that are not yet available because the interval after the last repetition has not passed. In manual mode, you can repeat all your flashcards whenever you want. You can switch back to smart mode at any time.

Learning and translating in a separate tab

Flashcard repetition sessions can get long, and keeping the Rememberry popup open for the whole session may be inconvenient, for example, when you need to switch to another tab.

To address this, we added the ability to open Rememberry in a separate tab.

The tab has the same functionality as the popup, including the translation screen, and you can keep it open as long as you need without losing your progress.

Other updates

• Removed Shift as a translation trigger-key modifier because it proved problematic.
• Added an option for web developers to turn off in-page translation completely if Rememberry interferes with a development use case or website. This disables all Rememberry code and UI injection on visited pages; translation remains available in the popup.
• Bug fixes.
