Study modes for reading, listening and typing

Three ways to recall the same card
Seeing a word, hearing it and writing it yourself are different skills. Switch modes when you want a different kind of practice.
Text mode
See one side of the card and try to recall the other. Good when you want reading practice without sound or typing.
Listening mode
Hear one side spoken aloud while the text stays hidden until you reveal the answer. Practice connecting the sound with its meaning.
Typing mode
See one side, type the other and compare your response with the answer before you rate the recall difficulty.
Direction and Playback are separate choices
Choose a card direction for any scored mode, or use Playback for a separate listening session.
- Standard and Reverse are available in the extension and app
- The app also offers Alternate, which flips each card on its next repetition based on its history
- Playback lets you listen through cards in sequence without scoring recall

Do study modes work with spaced repetition?
Yes. Text, Listening and Typing sessions use the same spaced-repetition schedule and score your recall. Playback is for hands-free listening and does not replace a scored review session.
