See how English writing, pronunciation and grammar shape what you need to notice.
Writing and sound
English uses the Latin alphabet, but its spelling preserves layers of language history, so letters and sounds do not always line up neatly. Stress and rhythm matter as much as individual sounds, and many accents are equally authentic.
Grammar and usage
English has relatively few noun endings, which gives word order, articles and auxiliary verbs a lot of work to do. Natural usage also depends heavily on collocations: words that conventionally belong together.
What to notice as a learner
Save short chunks such as “make a decision” or “interested in”, ideally with audio and a sentence. One phrase card can reinforce vocabulary, grammar, stress and register at the same time.
